DR RENE DJURUP
Dr. René Djurup is 60 years old. He graduated as medical doctor from the University of Copenhagen in 1978 and got his full EU authorization as a physician in 1981. He holds a degree as Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) from the University of Copenhagen (1987). He has authored and co-authored 38 full scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals and filed four patent applications. He has written 20 textbooks. He worked for eight years in university hospitals in Copenhagen, Denmark, before he joined the biotech and pharmaceutical industry in 1987.
In the industry, he has worked in many disciplines, including R&D, clinical development, QC and Production. He has held positions as head of R&D departments and pilot plants. In 1993 – 1997, he served as QC Head for Novo Nordisk. In 2000, he co-founded a biotech company for development of drugs against severe infectious diseases.
From 2003 to 2008, he worked as Chief Technical Officer at Bavarian Nordic. Since 2008, he has been working as an independent biotech consultant. Since 2011, he has been a member of the board of Bioneer. Besides his background in medicine and biotechnology, Dr. Djurup also holds a degree as Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from Copenhagen’s Business School.
